History/ My Testimony

Note of interest:   After 2-1/2 years of Fit for the King classes once a week and normal exercise activity combined with "sensible" eating (no fancy diets, just a balanced and interesting diet), I have been pleased to find myself at the "ideal" weight and body size I have fought to achieve all of my life.  God has provided a way for me to stay fit, be content with my body as it is and find true happiness without the hours of intense workouts I experienced for many years! Latest Devotional

The first Fit for the King exercise class met in the fall of 2005 at City Center Church in Redmond Oregon.  It was a very unique exercise class since the emphasis was on spiritual and emotional health along with physical health.  As we met each week, the "worship" aspect of the class increased and soon Worship Energizer's developed.  The home workout kits were already a part of class since the ladies were encouraged to spend exercise and worship time on their own each week.  With our home workout DVD's, they were able to accomplish both of these in as little as 20 minutes.  Also included in the Fit for the King kit are Scriptures for encouragement, testimonies, goal setting sheets, and  home workout tips.  Fit for the King is a comprehensive program that looks at all of our needs as women in today's society.  We believe in the truth of God's Word, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the power of the Holy Spirit.  We believe all three are at work in our lives today and that we can improve our quality of life in our spirit's, our soul's (mind, will, emotion) and in our bodies.

I also believe that personal testimony from our own personal experiences in life are a huge source of encouragement for one another.  Here is my story.

My name is Eileen Fahlgren, and because God has given me so much grace in my struggles, I am here to share a little bit of my story with you so you will know how Fit for the King came to be.

Exercise has always been an important part of my life.  I always saw the value of being physically fit.  However, somewhere along the way, something I enjoyed became an obsession.  I became a Central Oregon known certified instructor in a program that I thought was the best combination of exercise available.   I paid thousands of dollars in certifications, trainings, and other materials.  I spent many hours practicing and teaching classes.  When I opened my own exercise studio, I thought my dream had come true.  However, I soon realized that even owning my own studio didn’t bring me the satisfaction I had expected and desired.  After about 3 years, I came to realize that the “great exercise program” I was teaching was controlling me and had become an obsession in my life, so I closed my studio and stopped teaching that program and started to search for something else I could teach.

I trained and certified for more exercise programs, spending hundreds of dollars (again!) and began teaching at a local gym.  Soon, I was teaching 5-6 classes a week.   I did this for about a year until God intervened in a mighty way, showing me the truth of why I couldn’t find satisfaction and fulfillment in what I had been doing.  I quit teaching completely and for a whole summer I sought God.  During that time I realized that I had actually been “addicted” to exercise because deep down inside I didn’t feel “good enough”- my self esteem was relying on the praise of other people.  God showed me that Christ is my center, my everything, and He healed my “broken heart”.  During that summer of devotion to Him, He began to show me how I could “praise Him” through exercise.  He became my “motive” to exercise and I discovered how to live a balanced life and still have time for Him and for exercise.  Fit for the King exercise program was born!  God used all of the skills I had worked so hard to acquire, all the training and effort I had put into learning and brought them together to use for His  glory!  It is now my goal to help other women live healthier lives and walk in the freedom of God’s love.  We all have “broken hearts” in one sense or the other, because we continually get the message from the “world” around us that we need to be a “product of perfection” in how we look.  The world gives us an unrealistic view of who we are and in turn we suffer because we fall short, no matter how hard we work we can’t find satisfaction.  But God loves us the way we are, He made each of us “intricately weaving us, knitting us perfectly in our Mother’s womb” into who He planned for us to be.  Yes, God does want us healthy and whole, in every way: mind, heart, spirit and body!

So I dedicate Fit for the King Women's Health Ministry to our Creator, our Heavenly Father, who loves us just the way we are:

God is the giver of gifts.

As He gives us gifts we in turn give them away.  Luke 6:38

God is the inspiration for this ministry, and it is through His gift of creativity that Fit for the King was created, so I pass this program on to you and pray that it will inspire your faith as it has mine.  May you usher in His Presence as you energize your body & spirit!

I will praise you as long as I live

And in your name I will lift up my hands    Psalm 63:4

Fit for the King is devoted to:

"Getting in shape for God's glory!"

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.  1 Corinthians 6:19-20  NIV
