Isaiah 43:22-24  Sacrifice of "fasting" will improve our life and our health

God sacrificed all for us, His only Son, Jesus!  How can we sacrifice all for Him and how will this improve our lives and our health?

Fasting along with prayer and worship brings us God’s direction.  Sacrifice with the right heart brings blessings into our lives.  When we “sacrifice” our flesh in fasting, when we let God's Spirit be FIRST, it is an act which helps us put ourselves into the proper alignment with spirit first, then mind, then body.  Basically, we tell our flesh (body) and it’s appetites to be still, be quiet, for we have important business with the Lord.  The first man Adam, let His flesh rule (along with Eve) and fell into sin.  We too, (Isaiah 43:24*see below) can so easily fall into sin when we let our body and it’s appetites rule our minds and hearts (spirit).  God does not burden us with sacrifice (Is. 43:23), but waits for us to choose to give it to Him so He can bless us.

Maybe the Lord has asked you to change an eating habit or to add more or different exercise to your lifestyle.  This may seem like a burden, however, if you approach each of your health decisions with a  sacrificial heart of praise and prayer, you will discover a new place of intimacy with the Lord and will HEAR His voice in a whole new way!  Be imitators of God and as you give your life and live a life of love, your sacrifice will be as a “sweet” fragrance unto the Lord.  Give the Lord your burdens (Matthew 11:28-30) and sacrifice all of your life, needs, thoughts, etc. at His altar.

Plan a time of fasting (liquid fast, Daniel fast, or fasting an item of food or fasting time, etc… - there are many ways to fast, even with health issues…. Remember the purpose of fasting is to lay aside all of our physical and emotional desires so we can focus on God and hear from His Spirit.  Fasting “fine tunes” our spirits to connect to God’s Spirit so we can “hear” His direction for EVERY area in our lives, including our health.

Isaiah 43:22-24

“But, dear family of Jacob, you refuse to ask for my help.     You have grown tired of me, O Israel! You have not brought me sheep or goats for burnt offerings.  You have not honored me with sacrifices,  though I have not burdened and wearied you  with requests for grain offerings and frankincense. You have not brought me fragrant calamus  or pleased me with the fat from sacrifices.   Instead, you have burdened me with your sins  and wearied me with your faults.  NLT

Fasting is a physical sacrifice which brings spiritual blessings.

Psalm 35:13  Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting.” NIV

When we fast, we humble ourselves before the Lord

Acts 14:23  Paul and Barnabas also appointed elders in every church. With prayer and fasting, they turned the elders over to the care of the Lord, in whom they had put their trust. NLT

Acts 13:2  While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." NIV
