Isaiah 55:2                                                  "Food" that truly satisfies!

 Isaiah 55:2
Why do you spend for what is not bread,
And your wages for what does not satisfy?
Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good,
And let your soul delight itself in abundance.  (NKJV)
Leslie Smith shared Isaiah 55 with us at the Women's Health Day on February 2nd and this verse really spoke to me and thus, another Health Devotional was born!

This verse is speaking to us of satisfaction in our souls, our spiritual satisfaction.  When we look for satisfaction & nourishment in other places than God's Word, we will never get the delight in our souls (our intellect, emotions, & will) that only God can give us!  When we choose to ingest "unhealthy" food, spiritual "junk food" into our souls, our bodies (spiritual) are not healthy.  We can choose to fill our minds with non-nourishing "foods" through TV, music, books, conversation, etc. or we can choose TV, music, books, conversation, etc. that is wholesome and edifying and will bring true nourishment to our souls!

We learned last weekend that we can start our day with a piece of fruit, such as an apple, which digests quickly and sets up our bodies to desire better foods for the day.  It will also get our digestive juices flowing and help our bodies to work more efficiently during the day as we deliver more "foods" (hopefully healthy choices) to our bodies.  Starting our day with God's Word, ingesting His first fruits will do the same for our spiritual life!   We all can agree that the best time to study God's Word is when we are at our best, however, why not start off our day with a little bite of "spiritual" fruit?  For those of us whose schedules do no allow us to sit with the Lord in prayer, the Word and worship first thing in the morning, here are a few suggestions to still get that "fruit" and glean extra nourishment for our souls each day!

Tape an index card on your bathroom mirror that has a Scripture on it from the day before's devotional time..... this way you can get 7 new scriptures digested into your heart each week!  Or keep the same card for a number of days so you can fully "digest" all of it!   Listen to worship music when preparing for your day; while in the shower, while fixing breakfast, etc.  Worship music is also a great thing to share with your family.  Worship God in your heart and pray as you go about your morning tasks or as you drive to work.  In as little as a 5 minute period, you can ingest some quality food and set yourself up for a wonderful, joyful day in God's presence!

Isaiah 5:11
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth,
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
and it shall proper in the thing for which I sent it.  (NKJV)

When we read God's Word, we will know His will for our lives.

Here is HIS promise that He WILL accomplish what He pleases in your life and what He sends you will prosper!  May you live your life in His abundance of health, in your hearts, your spirits and in your bodies.  AMEN!
