Luke 5:24-25
God's
Healing POWER - The power of prayer!
|
|
Luke 5:24-25
But that you may know that the Son of Man has
power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who
was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to
your house.” Immediately he rose up before them, took up
what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house,
glorifying (praising in NIV) God. NKJV
Let' s first look at the word power. In the original Greek it is exousia (ex-oo-see-ah): the authority or right to act, ability, privilage, capacity, delegated authority. Jesus had the "exousia" to forgive sin, heal sicknesses, and cast out devils. Jesus gave His followers, "all those who believe" (Mark 16:17)His exousia to preach, teach, heal & deliver (Mark 3:15) Powerless ministries become powerful upon discovering the exousia power resident in the name of Jesus and the blood of Jesus. In John 14:12, Jesus said: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father". We walk in Christ's ability, privilege, and capacity to minister and to heal! And it always glorifies God when we see lives changed through His power! There are oftentimes life changes that must happen to continue walking in the freedom of healing, sometimes physical, emotional and/or spiritual. Here Jesus first forgives the man (of course forgiveness involves the man's repentance) and obviously the man was repentant for he not only walked, but he also glorified God and then other's glorified God when they saw what happened! Jesus often said "Go & sin no more" after healing people. In other words, walk in a "new" changed way. Jesus' touch always changes us. We need to be willing to receive and be made new. We need to believe that when we pray, God does answer, as the Bible tells us (Psalm 21:2 is just one place we find this truth) although it may not be in ways we expect, so we must always be watchful for God's hand in our lives after we have prayed a specific prayer. Here is my testimony on this: On a Friday night at our church's yearly women's retreat, I asked a friend to pray for the cold sore on my lip to be healed. As she placed her hand on my forehead, I immediately felt the "life" go out of the cold sore, although the bubble of skin was still there. The next Tuesday, I went to my gynecologist for my yearly exam, with the evidence of the cold sore still on my lip. She noticed it and asked if I got them often and I said "only when something big is happening in my life"! She then gave me a sheet listing foods that contained lysine which helps heal cold sores and she gave me a list of foods that contain arginine, which aggravate and can cause cold sores. I was surprised to find that I had been generously eating many "good" foods, while also eating many of the "bad" foods. Then the realization washed over me that God had left the "evidence" of the cold sore so I would receive information that would give me the power of knowledge to help my body heal and stay healthy in the future. Within 2 days the bubble of skin was gone, and this was the first time I could remember a cold sore healing without scabbing up and bleeding! Yes, God did heal me in His sovereignty, but He allowed the "evidence" of my affliction to remain for a time, because He had a greater purpose in it to bring glory to Him! Stand on the truth of God's Word, the Bible, when you pray. Believe your prayer is answered, and watch as God works in His perfect time and His perfect way, for He has many wonderful plans and purposes to accomplish in many lives through your prayers. Walk in His power! Here is a Spiritual comparison of what was happening with my cold sore. Compare the lysine to "truth" of the Bible and compare "arginine" to what we think is "truth" in the World. We can read the Bible, worship, sing and take in wonderful truths, however, if we are still taking in the lies of the World as truth, we will always be struggling to "see" God's truth clearly. So, ask the Lord what you are "ingesting" that is not His truth! And walk more FULLY in His power.
