The comments on each Scripture are personal inspirations and not to be taken as literal interpretations.  I hope they will “spur you on” and give you a desire for better health!

God’s Creation

Psalm 139:13-16 (New International Version)

13 For you created my inmost being;
       you knit me together in my mother's womb.

    14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
       your works are wonderful,
       I know that full well.

    15 My frame was not hidden from you
       when I was made in the secret place.
       When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,

    16 your eyes saw my unformed body.
       All the days ordained for me
       were written in your book
       before one of them came to be.

There is so much more to us than our bodies – God created us when our bodies were still unformed.  He planned each day of our life.  Then He wove us together and gave us this physical body, which we need on Earth.  The struggle is the world puts value on us through our bodies, but God puts value on us through our spirits (hearts).  Our bodies are only temporary and will go back to dust.  But we do need them to function well for us while we are on Earth, so we need to care for them, but not set our self worth on them.  Our bodies may fail us, but our spirits won’t when we focus on God, letting Him direct us in our physical needs  --- and  His unfailing LOVE keeping us fit spiritually!

The temple

1 Corinthians 6:15 - 20 (New International Version)

15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself?

17But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.

19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

 Our bodies are the temple (home) of the Holy Spirit!  We need to care for our bodies the best we can, showing respect and appreciation to God, our creator.

John 17:22, 23a, 25-26 (New International Version)

22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23 I in them and you in me.

25 "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."

Christ dwells in us! And we in Him! ..... keeping Christ as center in our emotional, spiritual and physical lives will keep us whole, healthy and in unity.  No matter what physical state your body is in, please remember how much God loves you and that He does hold every moment of your life in His hands.  Keep Christ the center of your "temple" and seek Him with all of your health needs, He is faithful to direct us when we ask.

Strength                                                                                        page 2

Psalm 105:4 (New International Version)

4 Look to the LORD and his strength;
       seek his face always.

2 Samuel 22:33-37 (New Living Translation)

33    God is my strong fortress;
       he has made my way safe.

34    He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
       leading me safely along the mountain heights.

35    He prepares me for battle;
       he strengthens me to draw a bow of bronze.

36    You have given me the shield of your salvation;
       your help has made me great.

37    You have made a wide path for my feet
       to keep them from slipping.

We need to call on God for strength in all we do.   He knows our bodies and He knows how we can strengthen ourselves physically, we just need to seek God and let Him show each of us what is best for our individual needs.  When David was preparing for battle, God showed Him what to do, so when he needed the physical strength to draw the bow of bronze, he could.  Remember, David had to prepare ahead of time, he didn’t just go out and have the strength he needed for battle, just as we need to plan and prepare so we have the strength to carry out the plans God has laid for us, as well!

Psalm 91:9-10 (New Living Translation)

9    If you make the LORD your refuge,
       if you make the Most High your shelter,

    10    no evil will conquer you;
       no plague will come near your dwelling.

Our bodies are the dwelling place of God’s Holy Spirit, and to take the best care of our bodies, we need to make God our dwelling place!

Praise - Worship

Psalm 149:3 (New International Version)

3 I will praise his name with dancing
       and make music to him with tambourine and harp.

Psalm 63:4 (New International Version)

4  I will praise you as long as I live And in your name I will lift up my hands

Let all creation praise Him our creator.  Praise God for your bodies and what they can do!  Be thankful each time you exercise -make each movement a praise to God!

Healing                                                   page 3

Psalm 103-1-5 (New King James Version)

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul;
         And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
    2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,
         And forget not all His benefits:
    3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
         Who
heals all your diseases,
    4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
         Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
    5 Who satisfies your
mouth* with good things,
         So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

*This verse can also be applied to “diet” needs, let God satisfy your mouth with good things, He can guide you to healthier living.

 Acts 3:6-10 & 16 (New International Version)

6Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." 7Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong. 8He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.     16By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.

God wants us to be whole and healthy.  He wants us to be “healed” in mind, body and spirit.  Often, physical healing (wholeness) is evidence of “inner” spiritual healing.  We need to ask God to show us where we need to be exercised spiritually as well as physically.  What barriers are keeping you from complete healing and health?  First of all, we need faith that God is going to heal us, then we need to give Him credit and praise when He does!  Even if you don’t need to be healed from an ailment, injury or disease, this scripture can be applied to your physical health/ strength plan.

Luke 9:1-2 (New International Version)

1When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, 2and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Many times in the new testament, Jesus sends out the disciples to preach and heal --  preaching to heal our spirits and healing to heal our physical bodies, making us whole in spirit and body!  Jesus is both God and man, both spiritual and physical; and the salvation that he offers is both for the soul and the body.

Breath                                                                                 page 4

Psalm 150:6 (New International Version)

6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
       Praise the LORD.

Genesis 2:7 (New International Version)

7 the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

God’s Spirit gives us life & worth.  Value His mysterious and miraculous gift of life – breath!   Let each breath you take be a reminder of His love for you.  Let each breath you take be a form of worship!

God’s Will – not mine!

Psalm 143-:8-10 (New International Version)

 8Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

   9Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

   10Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

We’ve all tried to do it on our own, diet, exercise, healthier lifestyles…..  and we just continue to fail!  However, when we seek God’s will FIRST, he will show us HOW to succeed.  The road is not always easy, but when we put our eyes on God and let HIM guide us, we will succeed.   Focus on this verse, say it everyday, lift your soul to the Lord and let HIM guide you!
